Built for consequential work

Complex programs.
Clear direction.

Keith Pauley brings scientific depth, operating discipline, and a builder’s instinct to programs where the stakes are high and the path forward is not obvious.

Across aerospace, defense, nuclear systems, energy, industrial research, and federal software, he has led large multidisciplinary teams through program startup, recovery, growth, and delivery.

01 / THE OPERATING RANGE

Scientific fluency.
Executive range.

Keith’s career connects the laboratory, the program office, the production floor, and the executive table.

Trained as a nuclear engineer, he built early expertise in space power, propulsion, and mission-critical systems. That technical foundation grew into leadership of complex software assurance, Space Shuttle avionics, industrial research portfolios, and major defense acquisitions.

His throughline is execution: establish a plan, make risk visible, align technical and business priorities, engage customers directly, and invest in the people responsible for delivery.

02 / SELECTED OUTCOMES

Leadership measured
in movement.

From program recovery to organizational scale, the work is defined by what changed.

MISSION AVIONICS2023–2026

Returned a challenged F-35 avionics program to full-rate production.

Led a Tier-1 defense acquisition valued above $1 billion, supporting risk, budget, labor, contract, and customer performance across a team of more than 350 technicians and engineers. Full-rate production was achieved within six months and under budget.

MARITIME SYSTEMS2020–2023

Led integrated systems delivery for the Navy’s next guided-missile frigate.

Managed the $400 million electrical propulsion, network, and controls program for the Constellation class, coordinating six integrated product teams and 18 major international suppliers. Expanded contract value by more than 20% through new scope.

MATRIC2004–2012

Built a multidisciplinary research organization from the ground up.

Founded and grew MATRIC to nearly 150 scientists and engineers spanning software, space, chemical, and environmental technologies. The organization produced more than 45 patents and supported prime-contract teams for NASA and the U.S. Department of Energy.

CHEMCHINA2012–2013

Directed industrial research at international scale.

Managed 22 research institutes and more than 7,000 professionals with responsibility for a $1.2 billion product portfolio. In less than one year, revenues increased 19% and profits increased 43%.

03 / MISSION-CRITICAL FOUNDATIONS

Where precision
is the baseline.

Keith’s operating discipline was forged in environments where systems had to work, evidence had to be defensible, and technical decisions carried real consequence.

INTERNATIONAL SPACE STATION

Software IV&V and mission assurance

Managed a 40-person team providing independent oversight for critical International Space Station software at NASA’s IV&V Facility.

SPACE SHUTTLE

Cockpit avionics modernization

Managed a $370 million program with 225 personnel and three major subcontractors, developing two flight computers and more than 500,000 lines of Criticality 1 real-time software.

SPACE POWER & PROPULSION

Nuclear systems for exploration

Designed nuclear power and propulsion concepts for Mars exploration and lunar missions, and represented the Department of Energy on Space Station Freedom power-system design.

04 / CAREER ARC

A career built
across boundaries.

Science and business. Government and industry. Startup and scale. Keith has worked on both sides of the interface—and knows how to bring them together.
